How We're Using Speco Activated Biocatalyst Odour Removal to Keep Our Bin Centers Smelling Good.

Everyday, many of our residents have to deal with the unpleasant smell coming from rubbish bins — and we know it’s not a great way to start the day. That’s why we’re trying something new and it’s already making a big difference!

Instead of just covering up the stink with strong chemicals, Speco Activated Biocatalyst Odour Removal was used to help tackle bad smells at the bin centers, these natural microbes go straight to the source, breaking down the waste and stopping the smell before it even starts.

Here’s what we’ve been doing:
We poured the Speco Activated Biocatalyst Odour Removal into the rubbish bin and left it closed for 7 days. After 7 days, the bin was opened and there was entirely no smell.

Of course, we didn’t just want to trust our noses. We’ve also asked an independent lab to run tests on the bins, checking for key smell indicators like ammonia and other gases that cause unpleasant odors. Results are really positive — the indicators levels have been lowered tremendously.

Further, the same treatment was also applied to the ventilation vents in the bin center, helping to neutralize odors that would normally escape into the surrounding area.
